Improving Skills - Part 36 - Update 1

It's been a while, eh? You have been waiting for the next comic over three months! Unfortunately you still have to wait for a long time. So what's the matter then? The progress list on the left side of the page is still saying that sketches aren't finished. Is that right?

Sadly, it is. I still haven't finished sketches. Why? I honestly don't know! I just don't have that same passion for drawing like I used to have. I used to draw 30 hours per week but now it's less than eight! I'm also a bit stressed out about a couple of upcoming events, which reallly doesn't help the matter. To make everything even worse, I really don't like the upcoming comic! Sketches are almost ready, and I'm only missing two more panels, but I don't know... It feels like I should draw all but the first page all over again. There's just too much blabbering and other uninteresting stuff on the other pages.

Whatever I'm going to do, it means that you still have to wait for a long time for the next comic, unless I'll get a sudden inspiration boost from somewhere. I'm sorry about that.

Improving Skills - Part 36 - Started

Part 36 is going to be a bit more difficult one to do. There's going to be so much dialogue to write, and a lot of experimenting with backgrounds. It's also one of those I-did-not-plan-this-beforehand comics. This means that the purpose the comic is to make the rest of the series work as I have planned. They're not the most fun comics to draw, since I have no idea what I'm doing. I wonder how many of those I have to create in the future.

I have created the synopsis and written down the initial dialogue, but I'm not happy with either of them. At this point, I usually know how many panels there's going be, but this time I have no clue. There's simply too many dialogue options! I think everything gets clearer after I have planned the layout of pages. I know how the first page is going to look like, but the other pages are still covered with mist. I'll figure everything out eventually.

Improving Skills - Part 35 - Final Update

I think part 35 is finally ready. It's missing speech bubbles and dialogue, but that shouldn't take too long. Everything should be ready before this week ends.

Improving Skills - Part 35 - Update 3

Lineart is basically done. I just need to do some tweaking for a couple of panels before I can start colouring and shading the comic. It shouldn't take too long but you never know. It's me who's making the comic after all! Colouring and shading should be quite straightforward though. I've done quite a bit of shading lately, so I expect it look better than ever before (when it comes to my comic series that is).

Improving Skills - Part 35 - Update 2

I'm finally done with the sketches, I think. A couple of them looked a bit bad while I was scanning them, but if I can't use them, I'll just draw them again.

Now it's time to start drawing the actual comic. Backgrounds won't cause any problems this time. In fact, they're pretty much done already! So basically I just have to draw the characters, and give them speech bubbles. That's pretty much it.

Improving Skills - Part 35 - Update 1

I just finished the first sketch.

Yeah... Progress is currently quite slow. That's because I'm having problems in concentrating. A week and a half ago I got a call that I have to leave my current apartment during next two months. I'm currently looking for a new apartment, but I can't relax until I have found one, and signed a rental agreement. There are some good apartments out there, but the problem is that I'm unemployed and landlords don't usually like it. This means that I'm having a hard time getting an apartment, and that's the thing what makes me feeling uneasy. 

Don't worry, I still keep on drawing. It's just not that efficient like it usually is.

Improving Skills - Part 35 - Started

I just finished the script, and now I can actually start drawing the comic itself. By the looks of it, the comic will be 25 panels long, which makes it four pages. This will take a while.

Improving Skills - Part 34 - Final Update

It's ready. It should be up in a day or two. Starting part 35 now.

Improving Skills - Part 34 - Update 2

Part 34 is just missing shading and speech bubbles, but otherwise it's ready. Well, at least I think it's ready, but you never know what kind of surprises you'll find later on. Anyway, the comic should be ready next week. I know I said that last week, but now I'm sure of it.

Improving Skills - Part 34 - Update 1

I'm pretty much done with the line art. I still had to do some minor tweaking with it, but it shouldn't take more than half an hour of work. By the looks of it, the comic is probably ready in the end of the next week. Usually I'm attending to the art forge twice a week, but on next week I'm having "a vacation" from it. I could use those days for making the comic, but I'm likely going to do some other things then. We'll see. So again, no promises about the release date of the next comic.
